TII’s 2013 annual conference, which was organized this year in collaboration with the Enterprise Europe Network and local host Coway International Tech Transfer Co. Ltd., succeeded in creating a truly international platform to discuss issues around the conference theme of “Globalization of Technology Transfer”. Over 40 delegates from Europe, the USA, South America and India travelled to meet some 150 delegates from technology transfer and research commercialization institutes representing most of China’s 30 provinces. The conference presentations can be downloaded from the TII website at http://www.tii.org/index2.php?sm=tii_en-9&cat=4&idnews=201209240001 (click on document archives) and the photos from the event can be viewed at https://picasaweb.google.com/TiiAdministration/TII2013Beijing?authkey=Gv1sRgCNyp5feAwYGxPw#
In addition to the speaking programme, which covered topics such as local and global TT networks, emerging technology revolutions and changing paradigms in achieving value from intellectual capital, IPR issues, cultural differences in doing business in Europe and China, science commercialization, internationalization and open innovation, delegates were able to develop one-to-one business contacts for future cooperation on technologies and capacity building.
The major spin-off benefit of the conference for TII is a commitment to study the creation of a TII-China chapter, which will involve the delivery of a number of specific services to a group of TII members in China. Such a model will have the extra advantage of being customizable to other chapters of TII members elsewhere in the world.
